Shadeless began with a deeply personal turning point.
In 2007, our founder, Ozgur Cakir, received the devastating news that his grandmother had been diagnosed with a serious medical condition. Although she was already under the care of medical doctors, he felt a powerful need to contribute in whatever way he could. That moment became the beginning of a lifelong commitment to research, biotechnology, and the development of meaningful products designed to support human well-being.
Driven by urgency, compassion, and scientific curiosity, he immersed himself in the world of biotechnology and supportive care research. He studied an enormous body of scientific literature, reviewed thousands of pages of research, and began exploring how science could provide intelligent, complementary support in areas where human problems are complex and deeply personal.
That early experience shaped the mission that still defines Shadeless today:
to use science proactively, thoughtfully, and responsibly in service of real human needs.
A second turning point came soon after.
In 2008, when Ozgur turned 30, he began noticing changes in his own skin. Having always had sensitive skin, he became increasingly aware of how both internal and external factors could affect skin quality. What started as a personal concern became a scientific pursuit. He began studying the biology of sensitive skin, skin aging, pigmentation, and acne-prone skin, and quickly realized that all of these concerns are deeply connected to human biology and the biochemistry of life.
Science was never something distant in his life. He grew up in a family shaped by it. His father was a chemical engineer and teacher. His mother taught patient care in a military hospital school and continues to study natural remedies with curiosity and discipline. From an early age, he was surrounded by scientific thinking, medical conversation, and a deep respect for how the human body works. He was reading medical books while still in primary school and had long been fascinated by biology.
For him, “chemistry” was never a negative word. It was always a language of life itself — the natural logic behind living systems, healing, change, and function.
That lifelong fascination with biology eventually found a clear direction: skin.
The founder’s central motivation became simple and deeply personal:
if science could help him better understand and support his own skin concerns, then perhaps it could also help others with theirs.
This idea became the foundation of his long-term work in skin biology and skincare innovation. Rather than pursuing superficial or temporary solutions, he became committed to developing products rooted in deeper scientific logic — products designed not just to moisturize or cosmetically mask problems, but to support real visible improvement through intelligent formulation.
At the time of writing the first edition of The Science of Peptisinergix, Ozgur was also pursuing a Master’s degree in Biotechnology at Harvard University, further expanding his scientific perspective and strengthening his ability to approach skin problems through a broader biotechnology lens.
His beloved wife, who studied pharmacology, has also been an important intellectual partner in this journey. Together, their shared interest in science, formulation, and meaningful product development helped shape the values behind the brand.
Shadeless was born from this intersection of personal experience, scientific discipline, and long-term research.
The brand was created around one of the most universal and persistent skin concerns in the world:
uneven skin tone and uneven skin texture.
Over time, the founder came to see that these concerns are rarely caused by only one factor. They are influenced by skin biology, aging, inflammation, environmental exposure, internal stress, visible surface imbalance, and the complexity of how skin responds to different signals over time.
That realization led to a deeper scientific framework — one based on synergy, compatibility, and sequence rather than ingredient hype or short-term cosmetic effect.
This became the foundation for Peptisinergix:
a formulation philosophy built around the idea that advanced actives, especially peptides, can work more effectively when they are selected, coordinated, and sequenced intelligently.
Shadeless was created to turn that philosophy into real products.
From the beginning, the mission has remained clear:
To research and develop scientifically grounded products that help people address skin concerns in a more intelligent, effective, and meaningful way.
That mission continues to guide everything Shadeless does today.
The brand’s 3-step serum system was not created as a trend product or a quick commercial response. It was built through years of scientific exploration, formulation thinking, and a belief that skincare should do more than create a temporary illusion. It should help the skin move toward a more even tone, a more even texture, and a more refined overall appearance.
For Shadeless, history is not just the story of how a brand was founded.
It is the story of why the work continues.
And it continues for one reason above all:
for people.
